The Motivators is an Advanced level Modern Western Square Dance club, that meets at the Harmony Hall dance hall in Buckeye Lake, Ohio. Club tips are called at an A2 level for experienced Advanced dancers. Dress is casual.
Buckeye Lake is a small community located about 25 miles east of Columbus, just south of I-70 on SR 79 (exit 129A). To find Harmony Hall, take SR 79 south to the first traffic light (Mill Dam Rd), turn left, and left again about .2 miles down the road onto Worth Drive. The entrance to Harmony Hall is the gravelled drive at the end of Worth Drive. The building was inspired and built with square dancing in mind. It is air conditioned and has hardwood floors and excellent acoustics.
The Motivators club was founded by the well known caller Sam Philipps, who passed away in October, 2014. The club caller is now Eddie Powell.
Club dances are from 7:30 PM until 10:00 PM two evenings a month, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.
The cost per dance is $6 per person per dance. Both member and non-member A2 level dancers are welcome at our dances.
If there is sufficient interest, the Motivators may sponsor an Advanced level class commencing in the fall. The class would cover all Advanced (A1 and A2) calls, and is open to solid Plus level dancers. Please contact Eddie Powell if you are interested in being informed about our next class.
A brief history of the club may be found on the COCDC website here.
